Family portrait

session information

These photo sessions are a great way to capture the wonderful connection within your family in a relaxed and fun way at a location of your choice. It is lovely way to create memories in a favourite spot of yours or even in your own back yard with a family portrait session.

You have me for approximately an hour so lets make the most of it!  I also love to capture just the natural interaction between you all, whether it is a special moment as a couple, cuddles with Dad or Mum, kicking a ball with your children, baby snuggles or just some fun outdoor activities - I absolutely love documentary style photography and believe it is the special natural moments of raw emotion that are so important not to miss. We'll pop in a few casual posed photos as well which always make for some special moment too.

What does my family portrait session cost and what does it include?

- Session fee of $165

- A phone or email consultation to get to know you and plan your photo session

- Your photography session which will be approximately an hour

- Travel within 30 minutes drive from Greytown included. Further distances at extra cost

- Viewing appointment at my studio in Greytown approximately two weeks after your portrait session where you see what I have captured.  Please allow 1 - 2 hours for this - it can be a difficult choice to choose your favourites as there may be between 30 - 50 images to show you.

- Prints, framed prints, digital files and canvases additional - minimum spend $255 (A3 professional print)

What should we wear?

I am all about individuality especially for childrens individual portraits - if you child loves Batman or is all about Elsa from Frozen or perhaps can't part with a favourite toy or rugby ball and that is how you would love them photographed, then bring along the costumes and props!

For family photos or a couples shoot if you a wanting a more cohesive look, then try to choose a few colours for a couple of your family members to wear - this doesn't mean you have to be all in denim with white shirts (although you can do this too), but try to perhaps have say one child with navy blue pants and the Mum to have a top that might have some navy blue in it. It might be floral, but just having a few similar tones does wonders.

Try to stay away from very bright colours and big spots and stripes - they can take away the focus from your lovely faces!

What can I expect to pay for prints, framed prints, canvases and digital files?

I am all about prints!  There is just something so timeless about having a beautiful fine art print on your wall of your family. It will be there forever there to keep. No amount of technology will ever take it away.  Remember when we saved our photos and data on floppy disks - who knows where we'll be in another 10 years - print lasts forever.

The investment in high quality professional prints I believe is worth every cent if it fits within your budget. The colour palette is bang on and the ink and paper are all made to last. Be wary of some cheaper alternatives. Plenty of clients have returned after being disappointed with cheap online prints. I guess it is the age old 'you get what you pay for' when it comes to beautiful fine art prints.

Fine art prints are printed on professional Ilford GALLERIE Smooth Pearl 310gsm paper.

Photo story frames are a wonderful option to pick your favourite photos from your session and display them together in one frame. See below for an example of a 9 photo collage. Some photos however you may want to display on their own - your 'hero' shots, nice and big and look fabulous in their own frame. We can discuss these options in your photo viewing session.
